Hal Bruce

Artist of the Month | June 2013

Hal uses the PowerMix Pure System:

Switching to the PowerMix Pure system was the best move I have made in a long time. As I play acoustic guitar without using a backing band or computerized accompaniment, I really needed a system that would replicate the great acoustic tone of my custom Pelkey guitar, and also picks up the percussive quality the guitar has. It exceeded my expectations two fold… Way to go Dieter and Company, a system well designed!

Hal Bruce, well known for his globe trotting excursions in the last 13 years, has brought him to some pretty neat stage settings, where he has opened and/or performed with/for groups like Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Beach Boys, The Searchers, Spencer Davis Group, Peter Asher (of Peter and Gordon 1960s super duo), Rita McNeil, Jonathon Edwards, and the list goes on.

He grew up in Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia in the 60s, and picked up the guitar at the age of nine years… The music of The Beatles really hooked him, plus the great sounds of the 1960s and the 70s capped off his set lists. Hal honed his craft on guitar, piano, harmonica and vocals, emulating the new groups springing up all over the place. The Beatles though, was his favorite.

Ever since those days, Hal has gone on to set a world record by performing all 214 released Beatles songs in a non-stop medley in 2004 in Cleveland in front of over 5,000 people. Every song was in order of release and all in the original keys!

In 2006 and 2008, he was inducted as the only person in the world to “two” Beatles Halls of Fame, the first in Louisville, Kentucky, and the second in Liverpool, England where he was also dubbed “The Cavern’s Very Best Friend!

Since 2000, he has been playing tons of 1960s and 70s classics in places like England, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Sweden, Mediterranean, Argentina, Australia, Caribbean, USA, and of course Canada.

His Variety Concerts have people putting in requests to the point of his slogan being, “You Request ‘em, I’ll Play ‘em!”

Looking up at the stage, you’re seeing one person, but you are hearing so much more, all without the aide of computer gimmicks! A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
