Pure Western Mini (glued onto a Martin bridgeplate)
Pure Western
The Pure Western is a passive system for steel string guitar, with three pickup heads and an endpin jack. It is a transducer system only and does not include a battery or on-board electronics. Don't be fooled by the sound of some competitors' "thin sounding" passive systems--the Pure Systems are definitely different. They sound full and rich and have sufficient output to drive most amps and PA systems directly!
Installing the Pure Western is easy with the supplied mounting jig.
Two Pure Western models are available:
-
Pure Western Mini
We recommend the Pure Western Mini pickups for all acoustic guitars as a first choice. Direct installation with superglue is required for optimum performance but the system is still removable without damaging the guitar (you may damage the pickup though).
This pickup system will fit ANY steel string acoustic guitar! It features super balanced, flat sound transmission, warm woody tone without any quack and superior dynamic range all over the guitar's frequency spectrum. This pickup won the silver medal in the 2006 worldwide readers' poll of Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Our customers tell us that the Pure Western's output is louder than any other passive pickup on the market. - Pure Western Standard
The Pure Western Standard is an excellent choice for 12-string guitars. The larger pickup heads produce an extra strong bass response and pronounced midrange. While this bass and midrange response is too strong for many guitars, especially very resonant ones, it sounds great in 12-string guitars and is a good alternative for guitars with heavy spruce tops and maple bridge plates.
The Pure Western Standard can be installed with our removable "on tape" mounting system. Stick the tape to the bridge plate first and superglue the pickups to the special polyester tape (supplied). If you want to remove the system simply pull off the tape with the pickup discs on it. Because the Standard pickups are larger than the Mini pickups, please check the bridge plate size of your guitar before you order. Click here for an original size diagram of the Pure Western Standard.
With direct superglue installation, the Pure Western Standard has sufficient output to plug directly into a PA system. The removable installation provides about the same output level as the Pure Western Mini with direct superglue installation.

Don't want to drill out the endpin hole in your guitar? Pure Western is now available with the Vintage Jack. Fits guitar's standard tapered 1/4 inch endpin hole, no drilling required, solderless Pure Pickup connection. The Vintage Jack starts at additional $80 (not discountable) added to the pickup's price.
