Bruce Huss

Artist of the Month | January 2021

Before becoming a full time performer, I was a television news reporter/photographer, and after that my wife and I started a video and graphics production company. In all these endeavors, perfect sound has always been the goal. As a solo acoustic singer/songwriter act, there’s no place to hide. My tone is my only teammate on stage.

I never have to give a second thought to my K&K Pure Pickup and K&K Pure XLR Preamp. They are bomb proof through hundreds of shows in every conceivable environment. The toughest test was probably a wedding in a rodeo arena, where all my equipment ended up covered in a layer of dust… not a recommended thing to do to your gear, but my K&K gear survived. My manager filters all the follow up positive sound quality comments to me, and they just keep coming. Thanks for making my life easier.

“This guy can play!”…That’s the first thing people say when they hear Bruce’s music live or recorded. HIs three CDs of original music are filled with meaty instrumentals and clever, feel-good lyrics, wrapped in his fresh Kansas perspective. The title cut from his latest release, Migration Day, is about a hawk that grew up in his backyard. It reflects that we’re all trying to get strong enough for the next challenge.

Based in Wichita Kansas, Bruce performs at venues and festivals across the Midwest, leaving a trail of happy audiences in his wake. His songs, Acoustical Romance and My Father’s Son, have scored songwriting awards, and he’s been a contestant in the International Fingerstyle Championships, plus he was top three in the Kansas State Fingerstyle Championships.

Besides his original compositions, Bruce can slide from folk to blues, to nearly new- age, and from classic rock to classical, to “almost country”…and back again. If your tastes are flexible and wide ranging, you’ll like this guy.
