It has been my eternal quest to produce a sound that sings like a human voice; that remains in the air and fills the space; whose presence is felt by merely existing. As a classic guitarist I incessantly searched for a way to amplify sound, trying out one external microphone after another, seeking to avoid the recurrent problem: feedback. But one day, tired of feedback, I decided to install in my guitar the K&K Trinity Pro Classic System and the result surpassed my expectations. The sound that I had searched for my entire life was there, amplified! Of course, there was no feedback.
Now, in the concert halls, playing solo or with an accompanying orchestra, is no longer a painful experience. This way of amplifying sound allows me to play even more with sound dynamics which in turn has given me greater interpretative freedom.
Piraí Vaca is one of the most well-known Bolivian artists, having played on stages across four continents. Due to the intensity of his playing, his technique and his charisma, he is considered by the international press to be one of the most admired Latin American guitarists. In the Washington Post, the following comment appeared: “… he made an impact on the audience with his musicality and control…” The German newspaper, Rhein Zeitung, wrote: “… and without any fear of exaggeration, we can say that with Piraí Vaca at the Mosel Music Festival one of the most outstanding guitarists in the world …”; and, recently, the Rheinische Post, another German newspaper, had this to say: “… technically brilliant, but how does one define the guitarist? Difficult, because this man demonstrates concentrated emotion, he combines musicality with spirituality, spirituality with virtuosity and profoundness with superficiality…modest and simple but full of self-confidence …”.
Some of the many prizes he has received are: Fellowship of the Americas, given by the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts; World Class Bolivian awarded by the Latin American Press Association and the Bolivian Association of Press Workers; The National Award for Music, given by the Asssociation of Writers, Plastic Artists and Musicians from Bolivia; the Excellence Award, given by the Escuela Europea de Negocios, and the Most Outstanding Bolivian, awarded by the United Nations for Youth.
Pirai has delighted audiences and obtained critical acclaim with his concerts in 31 countries in North and South America, Europe and Asia. He has played for Queen Sofia of Spain, Princess mako from Japan, for the World Bank President James D. Wolfensohn and various heads of State such as Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Evo Morales (Bolivia), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua) and Hugo Chávez, (Venezuela).
