Dallas Sutherland

Artist of the Month | June 2019

I have been using the K&K Pure Mini for several years now in both of my performing and recording guitars, and this pickup continues to impress me. I am always searching for the simplest, truest signal in a live situation, and for me the Pure Mini is unmatched in achieving this goal. It’s simply the best out there as far as I’m concerned. Long may it continue!

Fusing various styles and modern guitar techniques into his compositions and arrangements, Dallas Sutherland weaves various textures into a sound that has been described as “A conduit into the soul, with the rare ability to create heartfelt, emotional music that can transport the listener to the hidden places within.”

After years of exploring various styles of music in band settings, Dallas pursued a new path as a solo artist in 2009, and released his debut EP “Silver Birch Sessions” in 2012. The EP has earned positive reviews and was reviewed in Fingerstyle 360 magazine, with the song “My Beautiful Miss” singled out: “Its open tuning and lyrical folk-like melody has a charming autoharp quality.”

Dallas has performed at festivals including Nuit Blanche, TD Toronto Jazz Festival, Open Roof Festival, and Canadian Music Week, and has performed with artists such as Antoine Dufour, Thomas Leeb and Trevor Gordon Hall. In 2011, Dallas was asked to take part in the Toronto premiere of “24  Quarter Inch Jacks”, a suite for 24 electric guitars by acclaimed Montreal composer Tim Brady.
