Stephen K. Morris
Over the last year or two I had been quizzing guitar players about the pickup they were using in their acoustic guitars especially the ones I thought were getting a good and true acoustic guitar sound. K&K seemed to be the one I most often heard that I liked the natural acoustic sound they were getting. I was looking to improve the sound I was getting from various “under saddle” piezo type pickups and was growing tired of fussing with “imaging” preamps to simulate an acoustic sound.
My guitar is home after having the Pure Mini with Volume Control installed. I plugged the guitar straight into my amplifier with which I know what to expect. Wow. This pickup translates the tone and ring of my guitar better than anything I’ve used short of a microphone. With my guitar plugged straight into my amp and almost totally EQ’d flat the true sound of the guitar and the sound from the amp are very, very similar, true and acoustic. I am primarily a finger picker and like a heavy low end. The K&K does translate lows loud and clear and I suspect I will be cutting them some in a band format, but I play many solo gigs and love the round true low end I can get out of this pickup. Thank You, Bryan Hibler of Hibler Custom Guitars (my Luthier of choice) and K&K Sound (My new, go-to pickup source)!
